Leonard Shepherd fonds. 1928-1956.

The fonds consists of biographical material, correspondence (1928-1946), minutes, subject files, clippings and printed material pertaining to the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation in British Columbia. Amongst Shepherd's papers are those of his wife, Dorothy H. Shepherd, which relate to her work as an executive member of the South Westminster CCF Women's Club (1942-1959).

Born in Oxford, England, Leonard Shepherd came to British Columbia in 1910. After overseas service during World War I, he returned to work as a wireless operator on coast steamships. In 1921 he entered the farm machinery business in Surrey and Langley, B.C. After serving on the Surrey municipal council (1935-1937), Shepherd represented Delta as MLA in the Provincial Legislature.
